I grew up in an artistic household - my Mother is a painter, has been all her life, my father was a graphic designer and illustrator who played piano and trombone in a jazz band. When I had friends over to play, my mother would bring out paper and paints and ask us to create something - no sitting around watching tv for us!
I went to art college in the UK and studied graphic design and photography, and when I came back to Canada I spent some time working freelance as a sign painter, window display artist, and illustrator.  I did some formal graphic design work, but life being what it was, I ended up going in a slightly different direction.
I have spent my career always trying to find a way to bring my art into it, no matter what I did - I was the one who did the displays and signs when I worked retail, I spent some time as a "desktop publisher" for the City of Toronto creating posters and pamphlets and flyers for people who lived in Metro Toronto Housing Authority housing.  In my spare time I  used to DJ for fun anywhere I could and designed my own posters - DJ Athomic!   It never really caught on, but I didn't care, I was having fun.
For the past ten years I have been working as a Digital Campaign Specialist for a few different companies, and each place was a great learning experience and I met some wonderful people. In my current position, I am taking on design projects - both digital and print - and it's quite exciting to finally be doing more of what I love.
All I have ever wanted to do was anything that involved being creative - I am at my happiest when I am.
